The Adams House, 393 Delaware Avenue, Delmar, was built
as a hotel in 1838 by Nathaniel Adams, postmaster in what was
then Adamsville. The Town of Bethlehem purchased the building
in 1950 and turned it into Bethlehem Town Hall. The building
remained essentially unchanged with additions made for police
and fire department in the rear. NYSARC, a statewide nonprofit for
the disabled, occupied Adams House from 1983-2015. After a year
of vacancy, it was sold to Bethlehem Chabad, a Jewish congregation,
in 2016.
